Edlin Dorn – the charismatic 6’9 center for the Indy Hawks made a videophone call home to Indianapolis to share his thoughts on his experience in the 2009 Taipei Deaflympics in Taiwan. Sharing his excitement, he stated:
“Taiwan is fascinating – I’ve met so many people from all over the world here. This experience has made me more enthusiastic about representing my country in international competition. The coaches and my teammates on the basketball team have pushed me in practice and in the games.”
Dorn is averaging a cool 20 points per game in Taipei, coming off the bench while backing up Brad Miller, Florida State’s experienced center. Dorn’s speed and rapport with fellow Indy hawks teammate Robert Haney has enabled the USA team to have several exciting spurts during diferent moments during the games.
“We are working hard daily to get ready to prepare for Spain. They are an experienced team and we are still developing our chemistry.”
When we play Spain, we should be ready to go. I am loking forward to contributing any way I can.”
Coming from Gary, Indiana and Iowa, Edlin is no stranger to strong basketball exposure – playing with a high profile AAU team in Iowa, and then starring in the paint for the Indy Hawks in earning the last two USADB championships. Sharing the floor with Haney, White, Mowl and other high profile basketball players has helped Edlin realize his full potential as a player has yet to come.
The Indy Hawks are rooting for Team USA!
