Deaf World Championships – tryouts

The Deaf World Championships tryouts will take place at the Indiana School for the Deaf this coming weekend. The top 24 Deaf basketball players will gather for a weekend of drills, scrimmages and outside competition from Thursday to Sunday morning. The team will see 12 players selected to represent the USA Men’s team at the 2011 Deaf World Championships to be held in September 2011 at Italy.

U21 Deaf World Championships – update #9

July 4, 2010

The USA U21 Men’s team captured the Gold Medal yesterday by defeating Lithuania, 78-73. The leading scorer for the USA team was Indy Hawks Gabriel Paulone who contributed 19 points, 5 steals, 3 assists¬†and 9 of 11 free-throws. The USA contignent had center Greg White of Centreville, Ohio scoring 16 and snatching 10 rebounds. Josh Sisco of South Carolina contributed with 14 points and 8 rebounds. USA’s victory was a follow-up after the Deaflympics victory over Lithuania 10 months ago, also led by Coach Westhoelter who has now guided the USA to two Gold Medals and a Bronze in three international competitions as a Head Coach (Deaflympics, U21 and ’07 Deaf World Championships, respectively).

The USA’s U21 contignent has defeated Israel handidly 112-63 behind Josh Sisco’s 19 points. The men will face Lithuania in the Gold Medal game tomorrow. More information will be forthcoming.
