The Indy Hawks were invited to participate in an Student Life Activity pitting the team against the high school students in a wheelchair basketball game last week.
The game was very exciting for the students as many of the Hawks were teachers, staff and known in the community – as well as former student athletes at ISD.
The game itself was very exciting. The students built a large lead before the Hawks were able to storm back and tie the game at 30 apiece as the buzzer sounded.
In overtime, the Hawks scored first to grab a 32-30 lead but the students were able to make two baskets in the last minute to defeat the Hawks 34-32.
This game was very much fun and exciting. This cements the ties between the Indiana School for the Deaf and the Indy Hawks. Plans are underway to make this an annual event.
